Close your account

How you close your account depends on whether your college manages it. You cannot close a college-managed account or erase its data yourself.

If your college manages your account

  1. Open the account menu, choose Settings, then Privacy and data.
  2. Choose Ask your college to close my account. Add a reason if you want to, then choose Send request. Your college sees the reason.
  3. Your college's administrator approves or declines. A decline comes with a written reason. We tell you either way, by email and in the app. While you wait, choose Withdraw my request to cancel it.
  4. An approved closure happens 14 days after approval. Until then, sign in again or choose Keep my account to cancel it.

If no college manages your account, or you have left your college

  1. Open Settings, then Privacy and data. Choose Close your account.
  2. Read what is removed and what is kept, then type the phrase shown and your password.
  3. You are signed out on every device and the account closes 14 days later. Sign in again or choose Keep my account to cancel it.

What closing removes

  • Your sign-in: your password, your sessions on every device and any second factor. Your email address is freed.
  • Personal data that is not a college record: your photo, notifications, Ace chats, saved and hidden jobs, unsent drafts and extra email addresses.
  • Messages you sent in Pulse show as Message removed. A copy is kept for 90 days for safety reports.

What you can still do yourself

  • Clear your Ace chats.
  • Edit or delete your own messages. A copy is kept for 90 days.
  • Unsave or hide jobs.
  • Change or remove your photo.
  • Edit your profile entries and links.
  • Withdraw a placement application. The withdrawal is recorded, never erased.
