What proctoring records
Faculty choose the checks for each test. The page before the test lists the main ones under The rules for this test.
The short version
- Tab switches and fullscreen exits are counted. No screenshots are taken for them.
- Outside paste is blocked. The length and a fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) of what was pasted are kept, never the text.
- Typing pattern keeps paste sizes and typing rhythm. Raw keystrokes are discarded.
- The camera keeps a photo only when something looks wrong. Short clips keeps a 15 second clip. The microphone notes sustained speech, and no sound is recorded.
- A change faculty make after you start applies only to students who start later.
Before a proctored test starts, you tick a box to say you have read the rules and agree to your camera, microphone and activity on the page being recorded, as far as the test uses them. Then you choose Start the test.
